WHY BABY PHOTOGRAPHY IN NORTH LONDON?

There’s so many old expressions that you’ve probably heard 100 times already. ‘Enjoy every moment’, ‘they grow so quick’, ‘blink and you miss it’… just to name a few.

Overwhelming love for your new baby, combined with hormone overload and sleepless night, it’s easy to understand why days seem to pass so quickly and we don’t have the time for a professional photo session. Let us freeze that moment in this rapidly changing time in your baby’s development. We’ll provide you with the most beautiful memories of your baby -before they become spotty teenagers!

As your baby photographer in North London, we will capture the love you have for your tiny new baby so you can hold these memories forever. As bright and clear and beautiful as the day they were taken.

HOW WE WORK

Once you have booked your session we’ll have a little chat over the phone, via Zoom or in-person to plan & decide how to style your photoshoot.

We can talk about the styles of portraits you would like, how best to prepare and also discuss how you might want to display your final artwork.

Your photoshoot with your baby photographer in North London will be tailored to you and together we’ll decide on your outfits, colours and styles.

We’ll ensure your session is exciting and full of energy, yet keep you relaxed and comfortable too.

With our expert posing and lighting skills we will create a beautiful series of portraits that you’ll adore.

YOUR QUESTIONS

FAQs about Baby Photography

I’m used to being asked all sorts of things – and no question is silly! Here are just some of the things I’m asked regularly. Get in touch if you have more!

How Old Should My Baby Be?

The answer to this is that there are many stages that are excellent to photograph babies.

Newborn – for the vast majority this is best between the age of 5 to 15 days old. So clearly this needs to be booked in while you’re still pregnant. It’s only at this tender age that babies can get into those gorgeous & cosy foetal poses.

3-4 months is when most babies can hold their heads up – even for a little while & can start giving you smiles, a very rewarding time!

5-6 months is when most babies are “getting chubby” they can play with some toys and they discover their feet too, we may even get some giggles at this stage too!

At 7-8 months babies start being able to sit up unaided and may start crawling too – in photographic terms these are our “sitters”!

From 10-12 months many babies are moving around freely, either crawling or taking their first steps. Some (like a couple of my children) won’t walk till 15 months or so, so this stage is quite flexible.

Ask about our “My First Year” package that can include 3 or more of the above stages – a beautiful way of recording the growth of your baby!

Can My Partner & Older Child Join In?

Absolutely, portraits of our children together are often high on every parent’s wishlist and we are more than happy to accommodate that. Parent shots are also encouraged, even if you don’t normally love yourselves in photographs we are great at lighting and posing to help you look your best and more importantly, to capture the beautiful bond between you and your new baby.

We have several outfits and fabrics at the studio for new mums to wear, if you would like to include other family members neutral clothing works well, often in simple browns, creams or neutral colours. Where possible avoid patterns and logos, and maybe consider skin-skin portraits too.

What Should I Bring?

Milk, (breast and bottle are both welcome), a dummy if your baby has one at all and a blanket to wrap them in during feeds and cuddles.

Your baby may feed a little more frequently than usual, so please bring extra milk with you if bottle feeding. The room is kept warm, so it’s their way of hydrating as well as for the occasional extra reassurance/comfort.

Refreshements are provided for you too.

What Should We Wear?

Many mums are unsure what clothes to bring, but there are a few simple guidelines:

Plain simple colours are best

Avoid large graphics/logos/bold patterns or text on babies clothes

No need to over dress baby, you’ll want to remember them more than their clothes in the photos

Bring a variety of outfits and we’ll help you choose

Do your best to co-ordinate the clothes of other family members that may attend the session too.

Can You Photoshop Me?!

Yes….but with the posing skills we’ll teach you and the lighting techniques we use we won’t really need to!

Most mums would like to be in the photos “if only they could lose some baby weight”. There’s no need to worry about that though! We’ll guide you and position you so that you’ll look your absolute best with appropriate lighting, posing and styling. After all your little ones will want to have photos of themselves with mum, dad & the whole family in the future!
